Naish Phoenix review. Kite for big air, hang time and convenience

Naish Phoenix review

It is not common for a brand to add a new kite to the range. For Naish, the Phoenix the newest kite in the range. We have collected the available information from Naish in this theoretical Naish Phoenix review. In addition, we were able to test the 13.5 meter ourselves twice and can therefore share our own findings with you. Read and view the specifications of the new Phoenix in this blog.

Naish Phoenix review findings

5 struts big air performance

The Naish Phoenix is positioned by Naish as a powerful all-rounder with 5 struts suitable for freeriding and big air. The 5 struts immediately stand out together with the shape. With its long wing tips it is quite wide. It is also quite shallow. In terms of character, a number of assumptions are immediately associated with this profile. For example, less suitable for wave kite surfing, wake style kite surfing, unhooked freestyle kite surfing and a larger turning circle. But on the other hand, it is very suitable for walking at altitude, kite surfing at speed and big air. So go hard and high. Of course there is much more than just 'aspect ratio' but this mnemonic immediately came to mind. Back to Naish's information.

According to Naish, the Phoenix is designed to jump as easily, as high and as far as possible. In addition, this kite is equipped with strong material so that it can take a beating and kite surfers can enjoy it for a long time. Think of the Quad Tex ripstop cloth and the reinforcement points in vulnerable places.

Other findings Naish Phoenix

  • Linear elevator with large sweet spot for elevator. Relative to the Naish Pivot, the Phoenix would jump more easily and the lift would be more even than that of the Pivot. The Pivot may require more timing for a radical jump than the Phoenix, which doesn't pull you straight up into the air but jumps more casually and further.
  • Slower kite for better control. The power should be good to dose and the control high. The kite itself has a relatively large turning circle. Precisely because a fast kite with a small turning circle is not good for everyone.
  • High-V adapter for speed and mega loops. The kite can be equipped with the included High-V adapter. For example, a high split can be made, making the kite faster and suitable for kite loops and mega loops.
  • No pulleys. The Phoenix has solid bridle lines without pulleys combined with a high split above the bar of the depower lines.
  • Lots of low end performance. As can be seen on the video, the kite has a lot of low-end performance. This is nice when the wind blows a little less so that you have enough power.
  • Available in 5 sizes. The Naish Phoenix is available in sizes 8, 9, 10, 12, 13.5 meters.
  • retro design. Last but not least: the design resembles its predecessors a long time ago. We immediately thought of the Naish X4.

Phoenix pays tribute to air style freaks

Although many kitesurfers who love jumping high once in the air don't do that many tricks anymore, the Phoenix with its hang time could be a cool asset for air style kite surfers. So instead of just jumping as high and long as possible for only a good score on height and flight time, do this in combination with nice tricks and combinations. Think of one footer, board offs, no footers and stylish rotations. Also check it out interview with Marc Remmerde for his air style masterclass.

Own findings: one-footers and hangtime

As stated, we were able to test the Phoenix 13.5 meter twice. Once at about 12 knots and once at about 16 knots. At 16 knots I manage to achieve a good hangtime with a 136 cm kiteboard and my 87 kilos where the one footers were no problem. In addition, I already got high. Especially if I did my best to keep the kiteboard on the edge until the last moment before the jump. That took some getting used to with such a big kite, but when I figured out the trick again, it went great.

Conclusion Naish Phoenix

With a range of 6 kites, Naish Kiteboarding has something for everyone. Currently the most famous Naish kites are the Pivot and the Traid (check the reviews via the links). The kite aroused our interest and went into the water with little wind. The Phoenix performed surprisingly well. We were able to get good hangtime and height and so tricks like the one-footer were easy to pull off. In addition, it is wonderful to cruise with the Phoenix. He sends friendly and is also easy to negate.

  1. “Kraftvoller 10er Phoenix with Startschwierigkeiten”

I am in love with my 10th Phoenix and can appreciate all positive comments. Die Leistung und Vielseitigkeit des Drachens sind beeindruckend.

However, there is a deutlicher Nachteil aufgefallen: The Kite hangs directly on the Front Tube, the Start in the Wasser was therefore verzögern kann. Here we will find a solution to help you start the process.

A new aspect, the same as the beach, is the Empfindlichkeit gegenüber rückwärts fliegenden Bewegungen. The operation of the bar is subject to special care, and therefore avoids unnecessary backlash.

I have been concerned about the relaunch problem and would like to have more useful solutions or tips for future use. They are proud to have small start-ups with the Phoenix being a powerful and powerful kite, with positive positive properties.
