After more than 3 years, kitesurfing has started again for the coveted Open NK Kite Wave podium places. In other words, the NK Wave. With a somewhat gusty wind from the northwest of more than 20 knots, a temperature around 17 degrees, baking waves for Dutch standards and of course the energy of kite wave kitesurfers it was a success. NKV accompanies Open NK Wave 2022
De Dutch Kitesurf Association (NKV) was in charge of the competition management to guide and judge the participants through the heat. It was 18 men and 9 women who competed against each other from 10.15 am. All avid kite-wave kite surfers so the heat was on on the North Sea at The Spot Zandvoort. The Spot Zandvoort has been organizing the Open NK Kite Wave for years.
Baking waves and currents
The conditions were challenging. For example, we read reports that at a certain moment waves of 3 meters rolled in. Also that it flowed very hard with the wind for a while. Nevertheless, it was possible to kitesurf the heats and that of course also says something about the level of the participants and organization.

Kitesurfing competitions looking back and ahead
Great that we have finally organized another NK Wave in the Netherlands. We are already looking forward to the next one. If we receive some action photos from the Open NK Kite Wave, we will update this blog with them. look at the competition calendar for other kitesurfing competitions.
