Creative with flow

It is not a fat pot, but you can feel it blowing hard enough for kite surfing and a measurement of the current wind confirms this. Once on the water you don't even get away and the wind is also onshore. I experienced this on beach slufter yesterday. Do you recognize this situation?

Enough wind but once on the water too little pressure in your kite has everything to do with current. When the tide goes out, the water pulls away from the shore along the natural moults. It may be that the direction the water is moving is in the same direction as the direction the wind is coming from. In other words, roughly downwind (see sketch). The current can flow so hard with the wind that you cannot kite surf. Especially when the wind is less strong, this can determine the turning point between whether or not to kite surf.

The solution is that you have an overview and do not continue to dabble on the square meter. Watch the flow direction of the water and other kite surfers. Ask yourself where do people sail and what the possibilities are?

My sketch indicates a situation where you see that if you deviate further to the left, the current suddenly flows against the wind. As long as you keep dabbling on the spots, marked as - / -, you are not having fun. As soon as the comes into the zone, marked + / +, you start planing, you have pressure in the kite and the fun starts! So I ended up surfing wonderfully.

  1. Creative with flow is fun. But there is a danger in it.
In the event that you have little wind, but can still sail thanks to the current, you will encounter 2 problems:
-If you throw in your kite, you will have trouble with the relaunch. Because of the light wind and the current that your kite wants to push towards you.
-If you fall off your board, you can quickly lose your board. Since your board is pushed upwind from you by the current. If you have lost your board, do not search downwind in such a case.

At a place like the slufter it flows very fast. It is not recommended to sail there if you are not entirely sure.
