Every year, 10 kiteboarding competitions must lead to a new kiteboarding world champion. This series of kite competitions in the form of a tour is under the auspices of the umbrella Pro Kiteboard Riders Association (PKRA).
The series of 10 competitions are spread over different continents. The field consists of the 32 best kiteboarders in the world.
They compete one-on-one against each other for seven minutes per heat. Participants show the five-member jury who assess the heats as many kite tricks as possible. The ranking of a tour stop is based on the so-called knock-out system.
