In part 1 we revealed the IDS (Intelligent Depower System). We concluded that, as Cabrinha argues, this is indeed a valuable new adaptation. The bar and bridles have also been stripped; only what is needed is there. Below we give you a summary of the first test results of the Crossbow 4 IDS.
Kite Cabrinha Crossbow 4
- The Crossbow 4 is a freeride kite that is sufficiently predictable. You feel where the kite is in the wind window.
- The Crossbow 4 is still a Bow type kite, but this model is no longer as flat as previous years. This also differs per kit size; the larger the kite size, the flatter the kite is (Dynamic Arc Progression). Each kit size is therefore different and designed for optimal performance at the respective size.
- The Crossbow 4 kite is power in low end and also has a very large wind range due to a large depower range.
- The Crossbow 4 kite remains controllable in a lot of wind, where there is a lot of depowering.
- Test riders had to get used to the timing for jumping.
- The Crossbow 4 has a lot of hangtime.
- The Crossbow 4 does not have such a fast turning speed.
- If you want to unhook the kite quickly, then you must put on the depowerstrap firmly in advance (otherwise the kite will 'store').
- Restarting the kite from the water is easy.
- The Crossbow 4 is equipped with the 'one pump' system and can be inflated by means of a normal pump.
- The kite is equipped with 4 mounting points with which the performance and bar pressure can be adjusted.
- There is no stopper on the bar. This will be available later this year.
