The 2024 Olympics in Paris will be there. The IQfoil class is then the new Olympic class for windsurfing. So blown wind foil during the iQfoil olympics† We follow developments closely because in 2024 also Olympic Kitesurfing makes its entrance. The IOC formally calls this 'Men's and Women's Kiteboarding (Formula Kite)'. In this blog we focus on the iqfoil final during the 2022 Lanzarote International Regatta.
IQfoil ladies
Nicole van der Velden (Spain) had a fantastic last day. With that, she snatched first place from Islay Watson (United Kingdom) who dominated the opening races. Marta Maggetti (Italy) took silver. For the ladies, the image that the organization has is that the women of the Spanish pre-Olympic team will set the bar very high in Paris 2024.

The men's category was completely dominated by the Netherlands, with Huig Jan Tak leading the way. Huig Jan Tak was unstoppable, with 4 wins from the 6 races held at Marina Rubicon.

Preview iQfoil Olympics
All in all, one Dutch lady in the top 10 and two gentlemen, one of which was number one. Of course we are not in the iqfoil Olympics yet and there is still a lot of time to train for the teams and individuals. Of course we support the Dutch and wish them every success on their way to 2024. We will continue to follow the highlights.
